24G SAS: Class-Leading Performance
The PM1653’s 24G SAS support streamlines storage infrastructure by maximizing throughput.
This is possible thanks to the addition of a cutting-edge Rhino controller that doubles the PM1653's bandwidth. This allows it to offer roughly twice the performance and more than double the random speeds of the previous generation.

Remarkably Reliable
The stability to succeed. The PM1653’s dual ports feature two pairs of signal pins that are connected to a
separate storage system. Utilizing that system, it continuously performs service checks to ensure that if one port fails, the other is capable of maintaining stable service. Such reliability enhances TCO while also adding much-needed stability to mission-critical enterprise applications.

More Capacity, More Efficiency
Featuring Samsung’s latest sixth-generation,
128-layer V-NAND and a maximum capacity of 30.72TB, the PM1653 offers the capacity to keep up with the exponential growth of business data. Such large capacity significantly expands the amount of storage that can be used in the enterprise market.
The PM1733 supports PCIe Gen 3 and PCIe Gen 4, and is available in several capacities. In
addition, its firmware can be modified by the user to exchange some drive capacity for
additional endurance. These features provide you with the flexibility to bring top-tier
performance and reliability to a variety of architectures and environments.
High Capacity NVMe™ SSD and Disaggregated Storage Architecture
As cloud and scale-out data centers have become more and more disaggregated, storage has been able to scale independently from compute, giving businesses elasticity during peak demands while avoiding data silos and improving TCO. The new Ultrastar DC SN650 NVMe SSD includes the next generation Western Digital® controller, PCIe Gen 4.0 interface, and Western Digital BiCS5 TLC 3D NAND. BiCS5 TLC 3D NAND, with higher bit density per mm2, is the next generation of 3D NAND driving higher capacities, up to 15.36TB1 . With the latest PCIe Generation 4.0, the Ultrastar DC SN650 enables performance at scale for increasingly larger application workloads. Designed and built for the standard 2.5” SSD storage infrastructure, it includes support for U.2 and U.3 backplanes.

Emerging Workloads
The Ultrastar DC SN650 NVMe SSD is optimized for cloud and scale-out workloads requiring higher QoS consistency, and better storage utilization for block, object or fi le storage. Emerging workloads for big data, artifi cial intelligence, and machine learning are increasing in size and complexity. They are typically stored across distributed, tiered, or disaggregated architectures. The Ultrastar DC SN650 NVMe SSD is optimized for moving these large datasets fast and servicing multiple hosts with performance consistency, making them ideal for scaling capacity and maximizing GB/watt for these emerging larger workloads.
